Artist's Description

Original painting is a 17” x11½” watercolor. The lifespan of yellow-bellied sliders is more than 30 years in the wild, and over 40 years in captivity! My dogs found a small juvenile in my back yard two years ago and I took this reference photo before I relocated it to safety. I think it has made an excellent watercolor subject.

Her favorite subjects are birds and flowers, but she also enjoys painting just about anything and everything in nature. After almost 30 years working in various graphic design, web design, marketing, and sales groups for large and small corporations, Heather decided it was time to get out of the rat race and focus on what she really loves: creating art in many forms and media. She has a degree in Industrial Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh but has been drawing and painting since she was a child.
